Can these children with special needs do anything they want? Should they be allowed to participate in typical schools, sports or other groups? What are your thoughts or concerns with including those with disabilities?

Hi Shell! I love your blog and have already learned some things about DS. I think it is great for DS kids to do as much as possible in traditional schools. Not only does it teach compassion to the "normal" students, it gives some great opportunities to the Downs child as well. I think one of the best experiences my children have had was being peer tutors in school, and if more schools had that it would greatly reduce any teasing. Whatever we can do to help people feel comfortable and accepting of these precious kids is great! And it is them who are perfect in the eternal scheme of things.
